Press Box
Lincoln High School
Stockton, California

Cantilevered 23 feet above the 50-yard-line stadium seating at Lincoln High School, the stunning 750-square-foot , ADA-compliant Press Box provides facilities for field announcers, the media, VIP guests, team coaches, and videographers. Sited on an existing berm that is only ten feet in width, the Press Box structure is designed with split buttresses, allowing game fans to pass beneath the press box en route to their seats. Red metal siding encloses the occupants, and creates a striking visual contrast with the site-poured, gray concrete support structures. Press Box glazing is canted 10 degrees for improved visibility and glare reduction. In addition, all glazing is fully operable, allowing occupants to better experience the “open-air” sight and sounds of the game during fair weather, and to be sheltered from the elements on inclement game days.

This project earned an Award for Excellence in Design from the American Institute of Architects and an Honor Award from the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute.
