Turning Basin Business Park
California Department of Corrections
California Department of Transportation
Stockton, California
Situated in an industrial area adjacent to the Stockton Deep Water Channel, Turning Basin Business Park is an integral component of the City of Stockton’s downtown redevelopment program. The development includes a new 28,000 square-foot-, two-story building housing the California Department of Corrections, Parole Division District Offices and a new 9,000 sf single story building housing the Department of Transportation (CalTrans) Regional Office for San Joaquin County. A third building, intended to house another State of California agency, is planned as a later addition to the site.
The design of each building introduces bold colors and materials into the fabric of its industrial surroundings, and its professional-building character is compatible with neighboring office buildings in this waterfront setting. As is appropriate for civic projects, each building features very cost effective steel construction with pre-engineered, site-cast concrete wall panels.
The Department of Corrections building earned an Award of Excellence from the City of Stockton.
