Turning Basin Business Park, Phase III
U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Stockton, California
Anticipated Completion: 2011
Turning Basin Business Park, Phase III, a new office building shell, is the third phase of a development in an industrial portion of Stockton, adjacent to the Stockton Deep Water Channel. An integral component of the downtown redevelopment of the City of Stockton, this third phase of development will house approximately 22,000 square feet of administrative offices for the United States Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The facility will include offices for enforcement staff as well as temporary containment facilities for illegal immigrants awaiting deportation from the United States.
Turning Basin Business Park also includes offices for the State of California’s Department of Corrections and Department of Transportation.
The building design continues the development’s use of bold colors and materials. The extensive use of ribbed metal siding, exterior shade devices, and energy efficient glazing represent aspects of sustainable design. Building programming was done in anticipation of certification with United State Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program for Core and Shell.
Turning Basin Business Park’s unique location on a highly visible site on the San Joaquin River affords and opportunity to capture an expansive view of downtown Stockton and the Port of Stockton. The building and site design also take advantage of the opportunity to create a significant visual addition to the Stockton waterfront.
Turning Basin Business Park, Phase III and the other phases of this development enhance a previously ignored area of the downtown Stockton waterfront and are an integral component of Stockton and the Port of Stockton redevelopment programs.
