SDesigning Country Joe’s, a drive-thru coffee and specialty dessert shop, presented several design challenges. The client wanted two directional drive-thru approaches on a compact site and required visibility from both traffic directions on the adjacent highway.
After conducting a comprehensive vehicular movement study, LDA designed a 1,000 SF “barn-like” form featuring a high chroma color palette of red, blue, and yellow – tying into the rural landscape. The building is highly sustainable, with metal siding/roofing, a high efficient mechanical system and a wind power subsidy from the on-site windmill.
